At the hundred dollar range this is a five star pack. I gave it four on account that I haven't had it long enough for it to score full marks in durability. If you've read all the other reviews then you already know that there's a rain-fly and if you have no body weight to speak of, you probably won't want this massive pack. I'm a god-awful massive disgusting individual and I bought this pack because of the reviews that said it was great for large people.
This pack is replacing my old internal frame pack that didn't have as beefy a waist belt, put too much pressure on my shoulders and dug into my arm pits, it also cost more and was smaller than the Sierra. There was a post that said the chest strap failed and that the shoulder straps weren't plush enough and the sleeping bag compartment wasn't large enough. So I was a little wary. But the pack adjusted to fit like a dream packed for a week. The belt is fantastic, took nearly all the weight off my shoulders. The shoulder straps were very comfortable, barely made contact on the tops of my shoulders and didn't dig into my underarms. I couldn't believe how sturdy the chest strap was considering it is on sliders, my chest is over 50 inches before I take a breath and I was able cinch the chest strap all the way down on a fully loaded pack and the chest strap self-adjusted along the shoulder straps to find a nice balance without bursting off its wire. If the chest strap was loosened it found a place lower on the shoulder straps where there was more separation and was equally as comfortable. As for the sleeping bad compartment, well I'll put it this way, I could take Michael Clark Duncan dancing--my sleeping bag is huge--and with a little effort I was able to get it secured without using a compression bag. My bag's not meant for the top of Everest, but neither am I, but you get the picture.
Again, this pack was a hundred bucks when I got it. So if I divide that into how well it performed in comfort and utility; and give it nothing for durability since that's a test of time I haven't been able to give it yet, it still gets four stars from me.

Compared to the other backpacks of this nature I think this one is a more bang for your buck. It is very reasonably priced (I got the blue and it is an awesome vibrant shade) pack for all of the adjustable features it includes. I am happy with my purchase.

Bought this pack as my first real hiking pack and I love how enormous it is. I weighted it down and went on a 8 mile hike and it performed admirably. My only caveat would be that the chest strap snapped off as I was adjusting all the straps.

I absolutely love this backpack! Several years ago a friend bought us a High Sierra convertible luggage/backpack and I am hooked on the brand. The backpack is so sturdy and useful that I vowed that I would only buy High Sierra in the future. It holds up so much better than any other luggage I've owned (much better than the expensive department store stuff that looses zippers and has warranties that cover nothing!)
So, I had to buy this High Sierra backpack. It is perfect! It is super sturdy, the zippers are strong, it has the most storage of any of the backpacks High Sierra sells, and it has a plethora of differnt pockets for all types of acessories. Most importantly, it has all of this and it is light weight.
I really really recommend it! I totally want to buy another one.

I went from an old style backpack external frame from my boy scout years to this and love every minute of it. It can be adjusted on the fly to conform to the terrain you are hiking on.
Has plenty of room for those long trips or overnighters. It has the water bladder space for the camel back bladders.
Only thing I wish it had was thicker straps because the fine woven straps will slip every once in a while and let it slide loose. I have fixed this by double looping the strap through the rings.
I would recommend to anyone that is a big guy 6'4" 250lbs+. Fits great and is made for the bigger framed persons. Smaller people stay away as it isn't made for that. Sierra has different sized packs for different sized people. Take a look at their chart to make sure you are getting the right pack for your body.
