We developed a sturdy thermoplastic (ABS) frame; a see through poly vinyl flap with patented edges to not to warp; a floating sill to insure good closure; and a strong molded ABS lock-out slide to restrict the pet's movements when necessary. When this dog door came my husband wasn't too excited about having another item added to his "honey-do" list. However, it installed so quickly that he didn't even mind. I ordered the "medium" size for our Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and it's just right. The small would have been way too little. The door says for dogs up to 35 pounds but I don't know how a dog 35 pounds could fit through this door. I like the magnet strip at the bottom of the door, it snaps the flap shut and helps keep bugs out and cold air. We'll see how cold the house gets with this door in the winter, we live where the temps get double digits below zero, so we may have to seal it off for the winter. For now though, I am in love with this dog door. It was easy to install and my dog fits through it so easily. Great purchase!

I originally installed this pet door in my french door in 1992. Finally the flap needed replacing (probably due to the visiting pets that stayed over the years that were rather large,yet still managed to squeeze through). I could have replaced the flap but decided to replace the whole pet door purely for aesthetic reasons ie color. The 1992 door was grey and decided to go with a new white one to match the color of the french door. I have been thoroughly pleased with the 18 years wear and tear the original pet door received and there was no question on buying the same door as a replacement. Basic and easy to install. In my view this door is aptly named and is truly the ideal pet door, sometimes simple is best. This, to me, is a very well made pet door. I am not the handiest person and I was able to install it in less than an hour with no problems whatsoever. Very clean looking once installed in "luan" door between kitchen and garage. Magnetic clear-sturdy plastic flap works nicely and kitty can see what's on the other side - opens easily and closes securely. Now I've just got to get her to use it!

I bought this door because winters in Indiana are very cold, and I wanted my dogs went to the garage for their "necessities". the door is two sides aluminum with foam inside. It was very easy to install and the construction material is good. also, the extra door is perfect since it allows the dogs go out to the garage, I can manage to close it so we can controll their exit. they went used to the door very fast. it took me some treats to show them how to do it. I recommend this door

We installed this cat door over 17 years ago and it's still working great. The magnet still seals out the Colorado cold in winter. When it's locked we've watched a number of raccoons and tom cats try to break in, but all were unsuccessful. I would definitely buy another if I needed a second pet door.
